Statistics from Myanmar authorities show that the national population has reached 55.4 million by Jan. 31, 2006, a 1.1 million increase compared with the 54.3 million in 2004. The labor force at age between 15 and 59 takes a proportion of 32.74% of the whole population, and the increase of labor force throughout the country is more than 600,000. The Myanmar population in 1988 is 39.3 million. It is growing with an average rate of 2.02% every year. |
