1. About CICGF
China International Consumer Goods Fair (CICGF), co-sponsored by Ministry of Commerce, PRC and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, is the largest professional consumer goods fair in China, which ranks only second to Canton Fair among all the exhibitions sponsored by Ministry of Commerce.
CICGF is held in the famous port city of Ningbo from June 8 to 12 every year. Seven sessions have been successfully held since 2002, with several thousand enterprises from China and abroad exhibiting and thousands of buyers from all over the world attending.
The 8th CICGF (CICGF 2009) will be held from June 8 to 12, 2009, at Ningbo International Conference & Exhibition Center. 4000 booths will be set up, which will be divided into the following 8 exhibiting sections:
• Household textiles and garments
• Home appliances and electronics
• Furniture and office supply
• Sports, travel and recreation products
• Articles of daily use
• Arts-crafts and gifts
• Foodstuffs
• Overseas exhibits and trade service

6. Advantages of the fair:
--Manufacturing base. Zhejiang Province, of which Ningbo is a part, is China’s as well as the world’s largest consumer goods manufacturing base. 70% of the exhibiting enterprises are within hours’ or even minutes’ driving distance, making it much easier for buyers to explore.
--Excellent natural deep-water port, with cargo throughput ranking second in China and in the world. 190 container routes to over 600 ports. All the world’s 20 top container shipping companies have offices in Ningbo.
-Good exhibition infrastructure and excellent service. Good exhibition infrastructure, easy access to exhibitors online, free on-site interpreter service and internet service, Muslim and Christian prayer spaces, reasonable hotel charges, free shuttle bus services, etc., all make the fair such a nice one to attend.
7. About the City of Ningbo
Situated by the East China Sea and next to Shanghai and Hangzhou, Ningbo is the economic center on the southern flank of Yangtze River Delta, with a long historical and cultural record. It is Zhejiang Province’s second largest city, a separately planned city in economic management, and is widely known as the hometown for overseas Chinese. The city has 11 counties and districts with a total area of 9,365 square kilometers, a population of 5.6 million. It is also home to the 7000-year-old “Hemudu Culture” and the famous cultural ruins such as the Tianyi Pavilion.
As one of the earliest cities opened up to the outside world, Ningbo has had a booming economy for the past two decades. The city’s comprehensive strength ranks 6th among 200 Chinese cities. The cargo throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port now ranks second in China and in the world. The city’s foreign trade volume reached US$56.5 billion in 2007.
Hangzhou Bay Sea Bridge, 36 km in length and the longest sea bridge in the world, was put into use in 2008, enabling a 2-hour drive from Shanghai to Ningbo.
The city is famous for: Metropolis of Chinese Famous Brands, Metropolis of Chinese Stationery, Metropolis of Chinese Molding, Metropolis of Chinese Plastic Machineries, Metropolis of Chinese Cigarette Lighters, China’s most famous garment-making city; one of China’s three major home electrical appliance manufacturing bases, etc.
8.Getting to Ningbo
There are direct air routes linking Ningbo Lishe International Airport and Hong Kong, Seoul and most of the major cities in mainland China. Train and bus transportation are also very convenient. 50 passenger trains pull in or out each day. Buses leave at 10-15 minutes’ intervals bound for Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Free shuttle buses will be available for overseas visitors between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Ningbo, prior to and during the fair. ( shuttle schedule to be published in March)

10. Attractions in and around Ningbo
• Hemudu Neolithic Cultural Ruins
Hemudu Ruins has been verified to have a history of 7000 years. From the site, large amount of rice, animals' remains, fruits, wooden buildings, oars, thousands of ceramic vessels and primitive handicraft have been excavated. This stands to prove that Ningbo is one of the world’s first places to grow rice. Like the Yellow Valley, Yangtze Valley is also the origin of China's brilliant culture.
• Cicheng, an over-1000-year-old Ancient Town
With its long history, the town is known far and wide as the "Most Charming Ancient Town South of the Yangtze River" for its beautiful scenery, city walls and abundant cultural relics.
• Tianyi Pavilion Library
The library, which has survived 430 years of dramas and upheavals, is the oldest existing private library of China and Asia, and one of the world's three oldest libraries kept by a family.
• Xikou Town
Xikou, in Fenghua County, is a 4-star national-grade scenic spot, well-known home and abroad for its integrity of Buddhist culture, humane culture, and scenic beauty. It is the place for Buddhist and also the home town of Mr. Chiang Kai-Sheik and his son Chiang Ching-Kuo--two important historical figures in the modern history of China. Also it is a famous scenic spot, including the following spots: Xikou Town, Xuedou Hill and Tingxia Lake.
• Baoguo Temple
Baoguo Temple is a thousand-year-old renowned temple and one of the first cultural relic sites designated to be specially preserved in China.
• Tiantong Temple
As one of the ten sacred temples of the Buddhist Chan sect, Tiantong Temple is also known as "Buddha's Holy Land in Southeast China".
• Tianyi Square
The Tianyi Square, also known as Tianyi Business District, is situated downtown Ningbo in the business center. With its multi-functionalities of shopping and entertainment, it is known as the "Business Aircraft Carrier of Ningbo" and the "Face of Ningbo City".
• Putuoshan Mountain Tour
Putuoshan Mountain is an island at the east part of Zhoushan Islands - consisting of more than 1000 islands - about half way between Shanghai and Ningbo. It is one of the four Buddhist Mountains of China. The four Chinese Buddhist Mountains are each believed to be dominated by a major Buddha; Putuoshan is regarded as the sacred mountain of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, and so statues of Guanyin are a dominant theme here.
The island is famous for its old religious culture and unique island scenery. The island is known for its rugged terrain and exquisite landscape, featuring an array of temples, pagodas, arched bridges, narrow alleys, fishing boats, and artisans' shops.

Hangzhou is two hours’ drive from Ningbo. West Lake Scenic Spots is the most famous tourist spot in Hangzhou. West Lake is filled with history, natural beauties and legend.

West Lake has inspired painters for centuries. In ancient times, this place had been a shallow sea gulf before it evolved into a residual lake.
